Qualified lecturers prepare you for the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP), your gateway to any German university or Fachhochschule. As a private college it runs the broadest set of tracks, T, M, W, G and the combined M+T, with no entrance exam and a start from B1 (A2 via the combi course).

Optional online prep before the semester: a maths prep course (€170), a physics prep course, or both together for €300. The maths prep also helps M-course students.

FSP itself is free of charge. It is the external exam in Cologne, organised by the district government and recognised nationwide.

The Feststellungsprüfung

The FSP is organised by the Cologne district government, taken in Cologne, free of charge and recognised nationwide. It runs twice a year, around April/May and October/November, with three written exams and one oral, preceded by pre-exams the course prepares you for. You may take it twice in a lifetime.

FSP registration deadlines are usually by 1 September for the April/May sitting and by 1 March for October/November. We track these for you.

What you need, and what we do.

No entrance exam. The team reviews your leaving certificate, grades and German level. Documents can follow later if needed.

  • School-leaving certificateOne that requires a Studienkolleg in Germany, with the original and a German translation where available.
  • German from B1An attendance certificate is enough to apply. An official telc, Goethe, TestDaF, DSH or DSD can follow. The W-course also needs English A2.
  • Other documentsA passport copy, your grade transcript and a CV in German.
  • Tuition & visaPay after the document review, then your admission letter supports your visa, which the college helps with.

Which tracks can I choose?

Five: T for technology and engineering, M for medicine and the life sciences, W for business and social sciences, G for the humanities, and the combined M+T if you are undecided between medicine and technology. T, M, W and G cost €6,490 a year, the M+T costs €8,020.

What German level do I need to start?

From B1, and no entrance exam. An attendance certificate is enough to apply, with an official certificate able to follow. If you are not at B1 yet, the combi course starts from A2 and carries your German up to C1 along the way. The W-course also asks for English at A2.

Can I really start online?

Yes. You take the first semester online from home, then move to Düsseldorf for the second semester and the exam simulations on site.

Where do I sit the final exam?

The Feststellungsprüfung is an external exam in Cologne, organised by the district government, free of charge and recognised nationwide. The two-semester course prepares you for it through pre-exams.
