Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE)

You must have 3 Advanced Level qualifications.

Not by state authorities (Ofqual, WJEC, CCEA) "International Advanced Level" regulated must be proved by evidence of the following check points:

Cambridge Assessment International Education (formerly: Cambridge International Examinations)
OxfordAQA
Pearson (formerly: Edexcel)

basic requirements
 
Three independent A-Level subjects with a minimum grade of C.
​
2 subjects from:
  • a language,
  • history,
  • geography,
  • social studies / politics,
  • economics,
  • mathematics,
  • biology,
  • chemistry,
  • physics,
  • computer science according to "List A: General A level subjects that meet the basic requirements" (subject 1 and subject 2, and possibly Subject 3)

1 further general education subject, independent of the two subjects selected above, according to "List A" or according to "List B: General A Level subjects that meet the basic requirements" (Subject 3)​

Artistic courses​

  • No subject-specific requirements

Social and economic studies​
  • 1 A Level from: History, Geography, Social Studies / Politics, Economics;
  • 1 A Level from: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science
Humanities and law courses​
  • 1 A level from: language, history, geography, social studies / politics, economics
Natural science courses

  • 2 A Level from: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science
​Mathematical and technical courses (Engineering )
  • 1 A level in math;
  • 1 A level from: biology, chemistry, physics, computer science
Medical degrees, including pharmacy

Degree programs that cannot be assigned to these subject areas
  • ​The admitting university decides on subject-specific requirements
​The admitting university determines the subject-specific requirements for courses not falling into these categories.
 
3. Additional requirements

a) Preliminary results notifications:

Preliminary earnings releases ( "Candidate Statement of Provisional Results" and similar names) from recognized examination bodies can be considered.
The certificates from the examination offices must be submitted to the responsible office at the beginning of the 2nd semester or no later than 1 year after the examination date.

b) Vocational A Level:

Individual A Level subjects with vocational content can be considered as a third subject according to "List C: Permitted Vocational A Level Subjects" (Subject 3).
In this case, the selection of courses is limited to the subject of the A-level vocational subject.

c) a minimum of 12 years of school attendance is required for the assessment.

- A level subjects in the same subject are not independent of each other

- Listed are A Level subjects from all examination centers that are currently eligible or can be examined. Subjects that can no longer be selected are not listed

​Please note that a subject from List B can be chosen as the third subject or an additional subject from List A, as long as it is independent of the other two chosen A-Level subjects.

List C of approved vocational A-Level (not recommended​)

if a subject from List C is chosen as the third subject, it will limit the choice of degree programs available based on the subject area of the chosen vocational A-Level subject.

for the third subject, a subject from List C can be chosen, or another subject from Lists A or B as long as it is independent of the first two chosen subjects.

  • Design and Technology/Technology and Design/Design & Textiles (can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Digital Technology (requires ZAB consultation, can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Digital Media & Design (requires ZAB consultation, can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Electronics (can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Environmental Technology (requires ZAB consultation, can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Film Studies (can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Health and Social Care (requires ZAB consultation, can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Journalism in the Media and Communications Industry (requires ZAB consultation, can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Media Studies (requires ZAB consultation, can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Music Technology (can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
  • Software Systems Development (can be counted as a third A-Level subject if relevant to the chosen field)
