basic requirements +Subject-specific requirements for individual study areas

basic requirements

for all study programs

There are four examination subjects that must be independent of one another and have general, non-vocational content.

Among these examination subjects, the following subjects must be represented:

  • a language
  • Mathematics or any of the natural sciences biology, chemistry or physics.
Subject-specific requirements for individual study areas

Humanities, law, social sciences, economics and arts studies

  • a subject in the GCE Advanced Level that corresponds to the chosen field of study
  • in Economics and Social Sciences additionally a GCE-Advanced Level in Mathematics

Natural Sciences (biology, biochemistry, chemistry ..)
  • two of the following GCE Advanced Level subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics
Technical and mathematical study courses (mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering ..)
  • GCE Advanced Level in Mathematics and
  • one of the following GCE Advanced Level subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science
Medical degree programs

  • three of the following GCE Advanced Level subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Notes:

  • Two subjects at the GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level level can be included in the assessment instead of a GCE Advanced Level. (2AS=1AL)

  • The "GCE Applied A Level", introduced in 2005/06, replaced the so-called "Vocational Advanced Level" introduced in 2002 as part of the Vocational Certificate of Education (VCE), which in turn replaced the Advanced General National Vocational Qualifications (Advanced GNVQs) , are not considered for university entrance in the Federal Republic of Germany

list of vocational A-levels is: (note that this list is not updated (please do not accept it before you inform yourself of correct sources)
  1. Art and design
  2. Business
  3. Construction and the built environment
  4. Engineering
  5. Health and social care
  6. Hospitality and catering
  7. Information and communication technology (ICT)
  8. Leisure and recreation
  9. Manufacturing
  10. Media: communication and production
  11. Performing arts
  12. Retail and distributive services
  13. Science
  14. Travel and tourism

  • The so-called "key skills" at levels 1,2,3 and 4 in the areas of "Application of Number", "Communication" and "Information Technology" can generally be acquired at level 3 through additional services within the framework of the GCE AL lesson , These are used by UK universities for access to higher education, but are not included in the framework of university access in the Federal Republic of Germany.

  •  A language exam in English that has not been taken as part of GCE AL / AS exams can not be considered a substitute for a subject in GCE AL / AS.
  • If the audit results are documented by the preliminary Statement of Results or Candidate Statement of Provisional Results of the Awarding Bodies and / or the Examinations Centers, these can be used as the basis for the decision on the university entrance qualification. However, applicants will be required to submit their official certificates by the beginning of the second semester.
  •
    Duration of the school visit:
the evaluation is based on 12 gradual school years. If this condition is not met, there are the following alternatives:

  • In order to be recognized as a higher education entrance qualification, the successful passing of an additional examination in accordance with the "Framework Regulation for University Entrance with Foreign Qualifications, for Training at the Studienkollegs and for the Assessment Examination" (decision of the Standing Conference of 15.04.1994, as amended) is required.
  •  Recognition as a higher education entrance qualification is also possible due to a successful university degree of at least one year in a country whose school leaving certificates in Germany open the university entrance directly or after a one-year successful study.
  • In order to be recognized as an immediate higher education entrance qualification, "good" grades must be proven in the certificate of the last German school attended.

Cambridge Pre-U Qualifications

The "Cambridge Pre-U" compartment "Global Perspectives and Independent Research" can replace a GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level if a "Cambridge Pre-U Diploma" is demonstrated and
the basic requirements as well as the subject-specific requirements are already fulfilled by the other subjects.

Our recommendation is to select from these subjects:

mathematics
chemistry
physics
biology
computer science
native language
English
German
social Studies
geography
art
Sports
economy
history
Law
